Our creative director Jack Morley made this experimental piece in his third year of college. It was his first real motion piece. It investigates illusion, and was all shot in front of camera, no special effects were used to create the tricks of the eye. The illusions came down to camera positioning, lighting, scale and perspective .
This was an unusual response to the 2010 ISTD brief. The viewer must decipher which letterform is ‘fake’, or how the two may differ. There are 5 examples of fakery, all combing to make a sentence. The piece is narrated by Paolo Tullio, who guides the viewer toward possible clues, along with some onscreen graphics. The overall look aims to be like the kind of 70’s science vid your teacher may put on in class.
